Rob Thomas “…Something to Be”

I really wanted to hate this record, but instead I just pity it. It is a finely crafted pop record (ala Britney Spears) and Rob Thomas’ voice is clear and powerful, but does the world need another male Britney?
Thomas’ ex-band mates (rock band Matchbox 20) must feel like a football team that just found out their Capitan is a cross-dresser, betrayed and bewildered. Thomas will obviously sell millions of copies of this CD,
but my prediction is that his career is doomed at this trajectory. My advice Rob, ditch the fancy production and safe “formula” songs and do a record that features your voice more. If you already own all of the Matchbox 20 Cds and all of Britney’s Cds, buy this one too, and it will fit into your collection perfectly.
